Pop darling Katy Perry has officially kicked off her highly anticipated 107-show "Prismatic" world tour and the first indications are that the singer is in rare form. Last night, Perry kicked off the tour in front of a packed-in Belfast crowd who couldn't seem to get enough. It's an auspicious start for everyone's famous pop princess, but were fans really expecting anything less?
Composed of three globetrotting legs, the "Prismatic" tour is meant to help hype Perry's fourth studio album, "Prism." Considering the album itself opened at number one on the Billboard charts, and considering that it's one of the best reviewed albums of both 2013 and Katy Perry's entire career, I'm willing to bet that not much actual promotion was needed to help boost sales. So, let's call the "Prismatic" tour out on its real goal: to give the people more of what they want. Namely, more Katy Perry.
The Belfast Telegraph called the show "dazzling," while perezhilton.com proclaimed that "Perry's Belfast beginning has been off the hook! Off the chain, even! Off anything to do with hooks or chains!"
Not convinced? That's no problem for Perry, because she isn't trying to lure people in under false pretenses. Presumably to give her fans an idea of what they can expect, she Instagrammed the Belfast setlist hours before the show. While those songs might not stay constant throughout the whole tour, given the amount of costumes and pageantry involved in a Perry show, we're willing to bet changes will not be made lightly.
And you can bet there will be lots of Katy Perry to be found in 2014 as the tour itself is scheduled to run through December of this year. To see when Ms. Perry will be hitting your town, check right here.
