In a Paramount Studios/MGM premiere screening, AXS has recently seen this fresh version of historic "Ben-Hur" with its appeal to contemporary audiences. This latest "Ben-Hur" movie, which is due in theaters in August, is a re-adaptation that is faithful to Lew Wallace‘s 1880 novel. This movie is not a remake of the 1959 "Ben-Hur" movie because that film is not in public domain, but Wallace’s novel is.

"Ben-Hur" is about the Jewish prince Judah Ben-Hur, who is falsely accused of an assassination attempt by his adoptive brother and childhood friend. The movie follows Judah as he is made a slave and seeks revenge, but develops through harrowing, torturous, grueling experiences to find healing and redemption as he encounters Christ. In this new "Ben-Hur," Rodrigo Santoro plays Jesus Christ.

AXS has interviewed producers Roma Downey, Mark Burnett; leading actors Jack Huston, Toby Kebbell, Nazanin Boniadi; director Timur Bekmambetov; second unit director Phil Neilson; costume designer Varvara Avdjushko and more. This crew and cast have created a fresh, thrilling, heart-felt "Ben-Hur" that will appeal to old and young alike.

There are many authentic, captivating elements in this new "Ben-Hur" which include: real locations in Rome, Italy; authentic, detailed, stunning costumes; magnificent horses and real chariot racing that is breath-taking and more. British actors Jack Huston as Judah Ben-Hur and Toby Kebbell as brother and nemesis Messalla are skilled horsemen who astonishingly drive their chariots themselves, along with expert and champion charioteers with other chariot teams. Hollywood legend Morgan Freeman and Iranian-born British American actress Nazanin Boniadi also bring depth and warmth to compelling movie.

General Lew Wallace's great-great-granddaughter, Carol Wallace who is a well-known and respected author in her own right, has also breathed fresh life into her great-great-grandfather's novel to re-introduce this classic story to the modern generation in her own book, "Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ." At the premiere screening for the new "Ben-Hur" movie Carol has shared her book and blessed this spectacular new movie with her remarks and support.

Roma Downey ("Touched by An Angel" and more) and Mark Burnett ( "Survivor" and more ) continue to produce with the support of Biblical scholars and churches some of the best redemptive TV series and movies that have included: "Little Boy," "Woodlawn," "The Bible," "A.D.
