Music duo Alex and Sierra premiered the music video for "Scarecrow" on Friday (July 11). The X Factor U.S. winners brighten up the city with love in the new clip.
"Scarecrow" is the debut single by Alex and Sierra on Columbia Records. The duo signed with the label following a win on last year's season of The X Factor U.S. Real-life couple Alex Kinsey and Sierra Deaton sent two songs to the top of iTunes music chart during the season: their covers of A Great Big World's "Say Something" with Christina Aguilera and Sara Bareilles' "Gravity." Alex and Sierra follow Melanie Amaro and Tate Stevens as the latest winners from the now-defunct FOX show.
During their time on The X Factor, Alex and Sierra mostly performed stripped down versions of pop music hits. The duo keeps that folk-pop style alive on "Scarecrow." Like the music of past American Idol winner Phillip Phillips, the alluring single chugs along with thumps and hand claps. Alex and Sierra penned "Scarecrow" with Sam Hollander and Boys Like Girls' Martin Johnson. The couple's quirky persona translates well to the track with their cutesy yet clever lyricism. "I just want to believe in you and me," they sing.
Alex and Sierra announced "Scarecrow" as their first single back in May and they premiered a lyric video for it featuring puppets in place of the couple. Kinsey and Deaton are now at the forefront of the official music video. They sing the track to each other from afar in a big city. The duo sometimes appears together in a yellow field but things really get breathtaking when they reunite on a rooftop. "Scarecrow" is anything but stiff in their washed out-colored clip.
"Scarecrow" is now available on iTunes. Alex and Sierra's debut album It's About Us is expected to be released later this year.
