Alanis Morissette’s third album Jagged Little Pill got the reissue treatment this year for its 20th birthday. For the grand occasion, the singer has been on a marathon publicity tour to promote the album. Note that this is one of the most influential albums of the ‘90s and that no one has forgotten about it in the slightest. But still, nostalgic goodwill and fluffy feelings don't move units, hence the promotional appearances.
The tour has consisted of small-fry performances on late night television shows, but Morissette is taking a bigger plunge this Sunday, as she will bring one of Jagged Little Pill’s standout tracks to the stage of the 2015 American Music Awards.

Yesterday, the AMAs announced that Morissette will perform a duet of “You Oughta Know” with former Disney star and “Cool For The Summer” popstress Demi Lovato. If you’re not convinced that Demi Lovato can hold her own with Morissette on a stage, you must be out of the loop because Lovato’s recent cover of Adele’s “Hello” shows that she’s a legitimate talent in her own right.
Morissette and Lovato are added to a bulging list of AMA performers, including Justin Bieber, Carrie Underwood, Coldplay, Pentatonix, 5 Seconds of Summer, One Direction, Selena Gomez, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj and more. But the real question is will Flea and Dave Navarro show up to play bass and guitar for Morissette and Lovato’s duet? We’ll have to wait and see.
The American Music Awards airs this Sunday, Nov. 22 at 8/7 CT on ABC. Jennifer Lopez will host.
