Although some may argue that it's a bad idea to get a bunch of metal bands and thousands of fans all together on a cruise ship - but don't worry, it's pretty unlikely anyone will be made to walk the plank.
Music cruises have really become a thing in the last several years. Initially, Rick Springfield, Kid Rock, and New Kids on The Block were doing it, but now there are cruises devoted to almost every musical genre there is, including metal. KISS, Sammy Hagar, and Motley Crue's Vince Neil are just a few of the hard rockers who have hosted these horn-throwing concerts at sea.
But in 2014, be prepared for what's hailed as the "The Loudest Boat In The Wörld," Motörhead's MotörBoat. This cruise is not for the typical shuffleboard obsessed - unless of course the shuffle-boarding coincides with headbanging.
As if a Motörhead concert isn't crazy enough, imagine joining them for a Caribbean cruise. Now at 68 years old, front-man Lemmy Kilmister can still kick the butt of any metal-youngin's and then watch them - blazing lighter raised to the sky - beg for more. With his signature upward head-tilt Kilmister, with grit and gravel, belts out killer Motörhead favorites like "Ace of Spades," "Overkill," "Born to Raise Hell" and everyone's favorite, "Killed By Death," along side drummer Mikkey Dee and guitarist Phil Campbell. To hear Motörhead dominating a stage, one would think there were many more musicians than three creating all that beloved and noisy metal music.
And yet Motörhead’s MotörBoat is far from being just about Motörhead. Anthrax, Megadeth, Zakk Wylde, Jim Breuer, Danko Jones, Fireball Ministry, Wilson (and more - the website hints) are all part of this wet-dream of a lineup.
For four days and nights, September 22 through September 26, 2014, jump on board the Carnival Ecstasy for a ride to the Caribbean with some of your all time favorite metal makers. Motörhead’s MotörBoat sails from Miami to Key West and Cozumel, Mexico, and is loaded with amazing concerts, artist meet and greets, Q&A sessions, "wet and wild" parties, fun theme nights, and of course all the other luxurious on-board activities and amenities that Carnival cruises have to offer like a casino, spa, multiple hot-tubs, the pool, fitness center, many, many bars, and more.
