Fans of “Monty Python” have a huge treat coming up in December. Two of the key members of the British comedy troupe, John Cleese and Eric Idle, are coming to Dallas for two special stand-up concerts at the Majestic Theatre. The stand-up concerts take place on Dec. 1 and Dec. 2 and there will only be one remaining concert following those.
The two Dallas concerts are also the end of an impressive six concert stretch through Texas that starts on Saturday night, Nov. 26, in El Paso. After that, Cleese and Idle will hit San Antonio on Nov. 28, Houston on Nov. 29, and Austin on Nov. 30. The two shows in Dallas are the only back-to-back shows in Texas.
While John Cleese and Eric Idle performed together in Monty Python movies, they have never toured together as a duo until now. The concerts will see the two comedians sitting down together and work both scripted and improvised bits into their storytelling for audiences. There will also be musical numbers and video footage during the shows.
John Cleese had memorable roles in Monty Python movies such as “Life of Brian” and “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” while also writing for both of them. He has since seen success in movies, both as an animated voice actor in films like “Trolls” and “Shrek” as well as in live action movies like the Harry Potter and James Bond films.
Eric Idle also appeared in most Monty Python films and has also done some animated voice work, but nowhere near the level of Cleese. Idle did win a Tony Award for best Musical for “Spamalot” in 2004.
Tickets for the two John Cleese and Eric Idle Dallas shows are on sale here. Tickets for the concert range from $59.50 up to $99.50.
