If you're looking for a tour this summer that will leave your face melted in a puddle on the floor, then Chevelle has you covered. The metal band just announced via Billboard a 22-date tour that will have them criss-crossing the country to help promote their seventh album, "La Gorgola." The tour will kick off on May 17 when the band thunders into Columbus, Ohio.

If you're a metal fan, Chevelle is a name you're probably extremely familiar with. They've been making standout music since their first album, "Point #1," which released in 1999. Often compared with bands like Tool and Three Doors Down, Chevelle distinguishes itself with more contemplative lyrics and a powerful, thrumming sound. Checking out their past hits is definitely worthwhile, since their sound runs the gamut from explosive introspection (which seems like it wouldn't be possible, but totally is) to more thundering, electric riffs.

Now comprised of singer/guitarist Pete Loeffler, drummer Sam Loeffler, and (since 2005) bassist Dean Bernardini, the band is looking forward to hitting the road this May. Lead singer Sam Loeffler tells Billboard, "We've really been enjoying [touring], and our sets have been great. We've been doing 19 songs, 'cause it's hard to make a set list from seven albums at this point. We're going out in these five-week runs and there's some fun festivals and stuff that are cool. It's been a really great time to be here right now."
