Everyone loves and anticipates Thanksgiving for the delicious meals, treats, desserts, and family gatherings. Unfortunately, not everyone has the luxury to enjoy this day to its fullest. Thankfully, there are several locations that love to give back and offer free Thanksgiving events for all who need it. Below is a list of free family events for Thanksgiving in the Dallas – Ft. Norma’s Café

I have written news and promotions for Norma’s Café several times before; it’s such an awesome place. Ed Murph, owner of Norma’s Café, loves to give back – and not just on Thanksgiving, but throughout the year. This year, Norma’s Café will be giving back once again to the local community. On Thanksgiving the Café’s Oak Cliff location will open its doors for its 26th Annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Norma’s Café will offer a hearty meal served with a smile to all who enter.

Thanksgiving in Recovery

This is a great opportunity for you to help others in need. On Saturday, November 22, the Oxford Houses of DFW will be hosting its 5th Thanksgiving in Recovery. This event is from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Thanksgiving in Recovery day is for the whole recovery community to sit down and enjoy some great food, live music, and listen to a guest speaker about the journey to recovery from substance abuse. Afterwards, everyone will go downtown to feed the homeless a Thanksgiving meal and provide them with winter clothing.

Leah VanZant Community Life Center

All who enter are welcome with a holiday meal on both Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Just make sure to have a valid photo I.D., no pre-registration or application process is necessary for either holiday meals. This is on a first come first served basis, one ticket will be given per family for groceries for Christmas and Thanksgiving, there are 300 tickets total. This Community Life Center doesn’t just help give back on the holidays, it offers meals throughout the year. Food is provided on Tuesdays and clothing is available on Wednesdays. For these meals though, an application process is required.
